Toras Purim 5784 part 1: 42, The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything

The number 42 is, in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, the "Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything", calculated by an enormous supercomputer named Deep Thought over a period of 7.5 million years.

In Hebrew, this is translated as 

ארבעים ושתיים זה משמעות החיים

In gematria this 2030.

This is certainly correct, as the Mesillas Yesharim writes that the meaning of life is:

להתענג על הוי"ה ולהנות מזיו שכינתו

Which is also 2030 in gematria.

This meaning of life is reflected back to us by Hashem, as He says to us:

ואהבת עולם אהבתיך על כן משכתיך חסד

(Yirmiyahu 31:2)

Which is also 2030 in gematria.

Of course we need to explain the number 42 itself. That is easy, because of the 42 letter Name of Hashem, the 42 stations at which the nation camped on the way from Egypt to Israel, and ודברת בם.

But we also need to look at the 42nd pasuk in the Torah, the 42nd pasuk in Parashas Yisro and the 42nd pasuk in Megillas Esther.

But first, the 2030th pasuk in the Torah* is the one that commences Mattan Torah (Shemos 19:3):

ומשה עלה אל־האלקים ויקרא אליו ה' מן־ההר לאמר כה תאמר לבית יעקב ותגיד לבני ישראל

And to end off for now, the full quote from the Mesillas Yesharim is

להתענג על הוי"ה ולהנות מזיו שכינתו שזהו התענוג האמיתי והעידון הגדול מכל העידונים שיכולים להמצא

that is 4414 in gematria.

Which is also:

והימים האלה נזכרים ונעשים בכל־דור ודור משפחה ומשפחה מדינה ומדינה ועיר ועיר וימי הפורים האלה לא יעברו מתוך היהודים

(Esther 9:28)

BTW, the 4414th pasuk in the Torah* is Bamidbar 24:14...
