  1. I think i'm missing the key word there... the interesting minhag is to read ‘Aseret Hadiberot when it's thundering and lightninging out?

  2. It's a good question. It says to open, but I would also assume that it means to read.

  3. I'm reminded of Yaaqov anivu's need to utilize the joy of seeing Yoseif for the first time in 22 years to say Shema...

  4. Reb Micha casts an important light on the segulah. Rather than a "mystical" segulah for protection, it can now be seen as a "mussar seder" that seizes the "audio-visual" of the thunderstorm for the enhancement of yirah - which in itself then becomes the segulah.

  6. Sefer HaBris is a remarkable compendium written by a certain R' Pinchas Eliyahu of Vilna and published in 1797. It covers all sorts of sciences, mussar, kabbalah, etc.
