ReplyDeleteThere is Lifnei Iver by non-Jews, see Tosafos Yom Tov to Avodah Zarah 1:5.

ReplyDeleteIs there a problem with this site? They're selling offprints from the Otzar HaChochmah hard-disk library (17,000 books in PDF for $3000 or so). Does Otzar have a copyright? Certainly they have watermarked every page to indicate the source. Does Discount Seforim have a license to print this stuff off?
ReplyDeleteWhen I figured out that that's what they were, I quickly ordered offprints of a couple of anti-Sabbatean tracts I had been seeking (Mitpachat Seforim by the Yaavetz, and Tzitzat Novel Tzvi by R' Jacob Sasportas, a contemporary enemy of STz.
I had no idea. I thought they actually photocopied the stuff for each order.
ReplyDeleteIt may takkeh be a problem. I do not know if I am mechuyav to retract my existing order, but once you raised the issue, I am not sure one is allowed to order from them before further birurim.
I spoke to the people at www.discountseforim.com and they said that they spoke to rabbanim about this (they did not say which ones) who said that it is ok halachically to print the seforim.
