Knowing it when you hear it?
Do Nivul Peh terms have a sliding scale?

Comment received via email:I am totally in agreement with RYGB on this one. The logic that some words become acceptable because they are more widely used is the same argument that people used to twist the Aruch HaShulchan's comment about the lack of women's head covering (B'avonoseinu harabim) to say that head coverings are not required anymore. BTW Yiddish has a plethora of colorful terms for all sorts of body parts and functions and insults that would not be said in polite company. Why did you not mention that? Some even argue and elevate Yiddish to be a loshon of kedusha. (I disagree, it's a hodgepodge of distorted words sourced in loshonos from all the exiles) Unfortunately we live in a sick American society permeated with tumah. I can't even take the train anymore without some low life blasting rap music or yelling obscenities on his phone.
here's a link to your own discussion on the topic with Rav Mayer Schillerhttps://youtu.be/LHjqOBRgXFM
So was I consistent? :-)
