I don't believe for a second that the people who told him what happened gave him the full context. As such, they did it just to be malshin a community and get his predictable reaction. He waas merely exploited. This is not a classic Shailah and Teshuva and does not rise to the level of any psak.
FWIW I didn't say it was Assur. I said (or implied) that it was Mutar. My point was that because of current events on the extreme left (OO) this would be used to support activities such as allowing a woman to daven Kabbolas Shabbos before the Amud on Friday night between Mincha and Maariv. That is why I would have been against it, had I been asked. But i would have never condemned it the way R' Sternbuch did.
