When RMF zt"l wrote about a Jewish Federation (which in turn funded Jewish institutions both halachic and very-much-non-halachic) that he didn't like the concept in its current existence (as of the 1970s), but "practically we have no option but to give them some money" -- would you say the metzius has changed since then?
