  1. Great theory, now where's your evidence that TV and the internet have turned a bunch of Cartesian Skeptics (Descartes was an INTP like me BTW) into a mass of unthinking morons?

Notice how they only examine people in the Cult of Apple which won't allow developers to put their apps in the store without charging them a million dollars (for a decent Mac and the developer's program for only $99 a year which includes updates to the required compilers) and then HALF of the money you make from the app.(That's what it was last I checked a few years ago it may have gotten worse since)
If you want statistics on texting on Shabbos here's some from YU (contrary to common belief it's not just a MO phenomenon and I've seen no hard evidence that it's better among Charedim who have phones, interestingly it frst started because someone saw some chassidishe kids texting with their phones in the park on Rosh Hashana late at night.)https://static1.squarespace.com/static/55c0f53be4b0fcd6b4ca7307/t/56608954e4b0c263fdbadba7/1449167188257/Nourishing+the+Adolescent+Soul.pdf - see page 10 there.

    3. Answer me honestly please: Would you really prefer a class of me's over D track shiur? (i.e a thinking but critical one over an unthinking one)

    4. 1. You asked me for evidence. I produced it. I am not trying to convince you.
      2. You would be in a D track shiur. The skeptical thinkers find their way there.

    5. 1.You did produce evidence granted.
      2. You guessed my shiur track wrong, this is disappointing even for you.

    6. 2. IDK about where you are but where I am you have MAYBE 1 thinker in D track shiur.(slight exagerration)

    7. Certainly no one who could intelligently discuss lower and higher criticism or categorical imperatives or the costs and benefits of "pedagogical truth" (like telling kids that crime doesn't pay when it physically does)

This may've been a bit too much I apologize. I can't edit this as these are pseudonymous comments not linked to any one account.

Just curious how many thinking skeptics have you had in D shiur?

    10. Almost all of them. Many of them were in AP courses in secular studies.

    11. No such phenomenon where I am,nebach.

    12. D track shiur is if they're not commited they're mostly apathetic and cynical. Very few (if any) thinkers or AP takers as far as I know at least.

    13. There's a pretty strong correlation in my grade between shiur level and level of general studies classes.

    14. In that the clear majority of A shiur is in A or B general studies.

    15. Many mechanchim summarily dismiss any suggestion that teenage years and free thought can possibly coincide.
I want to know why you ask before I consider giving unequivocal hints about my identity.

    16. I ask because you talk of different levels in a grade - generally a sign of being in a somewhat "modern" HS. Personally, I treat even my middle school students as capable of independent and profound thought.

If you can get such a result for my entire bus you will have done a bigger miracle than the splitting of the yam suf and the falling of the mon and Eliyahu reviving the Almanah's son COMBINED.

    18. And to answer your question I am.

    19. I did not say my students ARE thinking independently and profoundly. Just that I treat them that way. Some do.
